The Circus

I feel like I have just lost my head
I'm nothing but flesh, pulled by the nape
On and on by this Stranger I'm led
By the Clown with the black swirling cape

My mind is broke with nothing inside
I'm hollow without sense, touch, or feel
I lay back to accept this odd ride
And before this Masked Man, O! how I kneel

I can't think a thought or do anything
My body refuses to listen to me
As I walk mindlessly into the ring
To His beckon; To the rings numbered three

Dancing With The Devil

It always happens at night
When the Devil comes out to fight
He thinks its such a sight
To see me whimper and cry

His battle is already won
Before its even begun
He's beaten me, its done
He's left me out here to dry

I stand to try and fight back
I pretend I'm without any lack
I've withstood his evil attack
Til he points out its just a big lie

Now my tongue starts to stutter
As my heart is all a'flutter
The engine of life starts to sputter
And I just let out a whimper and cry

Titles

To create art requires so much pain
And a title hardly acts as a crutch or a cane
As intended, it aids in walking
But the title tries to do all the talking
Clever ones to sum up the whole story
And long ones to explain the details in glory
When a simple one, plain and clear
While always available and surely near
Never sees the light of day
And is swept aside with a simple “naye”
It doesn’t take a genius to get the gist
And pick the The Girl With The Pearl Earring off the list
As one with the simplest name
For it does its job without boasting or fame
Being explicit is hard to find
For all these options are robbing us blind
The Last Supper and The Mona Lisa
Are as clear as sandwich and pizza
A last meal and the name of a woman
Are words that in contest ultimately win
No second thought is needed to give
And no interpretation is allowed to live
The only thing that I now fear
Is how to name this poem here

Late Night

Though my eyes are tired
I lay here in wait
For a world so fine
Given on a silver plate

Sleep eludes me
And I can act no more
It seems odd I think
That to be is a chore

My energy sapped
And hair falling out
Are only the beginnings
Of a lifeless draught

But time marches on
And responsibilities I hold
Occupy my mind
And keep out the cold

So I lie here in wait
Til the morning rays
As I slowly count down
The number of my days

Fifty Fifty

Her skin, I constantly crave
My mind can't seem to forget
The soft ring of her nave
Or her hair soaking wet

It drives me insane
How much I obsess
It drives me to pain
For one simple caress

I've abandoned all Love
For this carnal desire
Just one more shove
And I'll end up in fire

If I never kissed her
I would have wished I had
If I just missed her
Might it, too, be this bad?

Sights to See

My life it seems is slowly waltzing by
And oddly enough I don't have a care
Dancing through my mind, not knowing to where
Chatting with the birds up there in the sky

Oh how I wish I could join them on high
Being here on earth I can hardly bear
So I lie on the grass and simply stare
At the wonders above who sail and fly

Yet such a wish is only for the dream
As wings will never sprout out of my hide
And I will be stuck on this cold earth
Wandering about til I find the seam
That bequeaths this ship with such a wide berth
That takes us off to the bright other side

Timey-Wimey Stuff

Dr. Who got it all wrong
For no matter how you sing the song
Time will go just as straight
Without allowing you to alter your fate
Science says it may be so
And they seem to be in the know
About the travel regarding time
That makes a loop out of a line
It may speed up or it may slow down
Depending if you wear a smile or frown
But in all the clocks with all the hands
And all the glass with all the sands
It seems to be my destiny
That time feels like an eternity

For as each hour slowly dies
I long to open that magic door
Drop into those mystic eyes
And hold onto you forever more

All Alone

How sad it is to walk alone
Under skies where stars once shone
In a world devoid of people
But full of walking flesh and bone

Silent Screaming

I made myself a mute, I cannot speak
My mouth is shut, unable to reach you
I estranged myself, it made me a freak
Those few words I wish I had never drew

Why did I imprison myself like this
Stuck by myself because of my choices
An irrational act that made me miss
The sweet song of us exchanging voices

How I wish to kiss you and to converse
And to forget it like we were asleep
To put this car of life in reverse
And push this aside with a gentle sweep

Soon enough we’ll find reason to forgive
And those moments we missed we can re-live

Man

Its incredible how big man can be
He can move all the world
And span across the seven seas

He soars above the skies
Controlling the clouds
And driving his life before he dies

Our weapons have advanced
A manifestation of our madness
And with the devil we have danced

But then man seems so small
Not even tall as a tree
And I see how easy it is to fall

Our skin so soft and our mind edged
Without talons or claws
And all our bets have been hedged

Underneath all the shining stars
We weep and cry
And hope out cuts turns to scars

How Peaceful

How peaceful it is when it all just stops
No world to worry the brittle mind
Everything collapses under its worth
Such a silence is hard to find

And precious yet when the noises seize
The building and breaking of life gone by
Everything so still and quiet
Hardly prompts anything but a sigh

And falling down that rabbits hole
Opens up worlds to come and see
When the locks are all undone
The soul can finally walk free

The Chance Not Taken

What would it take to bridge that distance?
That gap that’s unfathomably long
What strength is needed to jump so far?
The answer it seems, no matter, is wrong

Three feet separates me from her
To hold myself requires all my command
For if I mess up, this one chance for me
Then nothing will go according to planned

Despite all my schemes and my dreams
She still cannot relate
So I stand my ground at three feet
And wished this wasn’t my fate.

Unwritable

I love her to death
And despite this potential
With each breathing breath
I lose my credential

Writing poetry it seems
Is for the sick of heart
Though she stays in my dreams
I can’t find where to start

I’ve written so much
Yet it seems like she is still
Impervious to touch
Of the pen and the quill

Forever Young

Forever young
I don’t want to be eternal
Or everlasting
I don’t want to live with you forever
I want time to trickly by
To feel each moment pass as you lie in my arms
To feel every second
And to remember each time you beckoned
To feel every kiss, every hug and spark
As time passes us by and leaves its mark
I want to grow old with you
But I don’t want to leave, too
I don’t want to meet Deaths knife
And leave you to fend off the wilds of life
I want to look in your eye and see that gorgeous blue
And always be able to turn and kiss you
I want to walk with you and never end
With your arm in mine around each bend
To never have to leave your side
And give up the love you never denied
I want to be
Forever young

Emotions Grown Tired

My heart is open like the vast wide sea
Looking for someone to share this fine eve
I’ve found the woman who has the right weave
And whose memory will not let me be
She pretends that this love she cannot see
And hopes, if ignored, it will simply leave
With such fair skin, is it hard to believe
That I’d fall for the girl who speaks with me?

I’ve expressed it to you with my own word
Yet you still could not accept the cold truth
Through silence and solitude I’ve endured
The itch that’s supposed to ignore the youth

You didn’t believe, so I showed you my art
If only if only, I could show you my heart

Hershey's

Hersheys kisses are like your kisses
Small, perfect and filled with wishes
I would do all the chores
And walk along all the shores
To taste that small bite of delicious

Love?

Why does it trouble me so
To speak these words of love to you
I want to scream it, to let you know
Of all the things that we could do

As a pair, alone, just the two of us
To do what we want and what we need
Without anyone else making a fuss
And saying that we’re doing an evil deed

Why can’t I just scream it to the world
Or whisper it quietly in your ear
Why can’t I hold that wand that you once twirled
And make you want to call me dear

Will I be too scared to make you aware
Or let you know and answer the dare

Temptations

I feel the need to hold her in my arms
And touch to mine those soft accepting lips
Sitting with her brings moisture to my palms
And my heart jumps to the swing of her hips

Her hair just stares and whimpers and sighs
Blows and waves to me with the cruel cold wind
She looks outside with those beautiful eyes
And I feel the blood inside instantly thinned

But all these treasures are escaping me
And I am stuck here picturing the scene
They say its a blessing, they say I’m free
But I’m trapped here in this world of my dream

If I give up now I might not find her
But perhaps that will be a bit kinder.

Forgetting

To say we’ve never met and just hit the reset
Is not easily done in this life
And any memory that lingers,
I can still touch with my fingers
Reminds me what I’ve done in this life
All the dreams that I’ve had, and have just said too bad
Cannot be realized in this life
And every wish that I’ve known, is like a seed that’s been sown
But will never bear fruit in this life
Happiness I will find, in the depths of my mind,
For it hides from my sight in this life
And so reality, becomes my fantasy
As we have forgotten love in this life

Frustration

My heart is pumping nothing through my veins
I feel slain like the shattered window panes
Walking blindly along, just like sheep
My mind so gone it needs a walking cane

My thoughts quietly begin to creep
and they leap to conclusions while I sleep
Running off in a wild dash
As I start to wake up from the deep

Life seems to be all about the cash
Smoke that stash, til all that remains is ash
Enjoy it while you can, and pray your right
Before it all goes up in a giant flash

No one anymore wants to unite
just spite the person on either side and fight
shoot him up, I don’t care, just save my breath
And make sure tomorrow I can walk in the light
